• Enhance the academic and life skills of the student through meaningful interpersonal relationships.

• Every child deserves an opportunity to achieve the brightest possible future and good education, and support systems are vital in this regard.  

 

The tutorial System has been in the college since 1995. Basically designed to promote more personal and productive relation between students and teachers, it enhances the effectiveness of teaching-learning process by taking the intellectual capabilities of the student into account. In this way it contributes in improving the overall discipline of the college. It is gratifying to note that the system has proven effective in fortifying students mentally and scholastically. It scaffolds them whenever necessary and helps them translate their aspirations into reality. In addition, the system enables teachers and students work in unison; it is not so much a method of instruction as a platform for empathetic association and salubrious influence which creates a sense of camaraderie and trust.

 

 

The functioning of the tutorial system

• Two hours per week are set apart for tutorial work.
• The Principal of the college is in the overall charge of the tutorial system.
• There will be a committee consisting of a coordinator and members from different departments to assist the Principal in implementing the system.
• Students are grouped into batches and each batch is guided by a teacher designated as group tutor/mentor.
• Group tutor/mentor shall guide and evaluate the curricular and co-curricular activities of the students. The mentor is expected to have good rapport with the students and s/he should make the student emotionally and psychologically stronger.
• The tutorial report, bio-data and all other information regarding every student shall be kept for the entire period of the academic programme.
• Tutorial committee function to assist the tutors/ mentors and the students.

Objectives

• Tutorial system aims at improving the all round performance of the students.
• Provide better opportunities for personal rapport between the teacher and the student.
• Identify the strength and weakness of each student.
• Assist the students to plan and choose a suitable career.
• Obtain feedback from the students regarding the functioning of the system.
• Monitor the curricular and co-curricular activities of the wards.
• Identify students requiring counseling, health check-up and remedial coaching. Also identify students with high caliber and guide them according to their talents
• Direct the students to join various clubs and committees according to their tastes.

Guidelines for tutors

• The function of the tutor is to increase as well as guide the students own activities
• The tutor/mentor should meet the students in all tutorial hours and talk to them collectively and individually.
• Monthly attendance statement of the students should be prepared with the assistance of attendance committee and should be publish it in the notice board. Grievances of the students if any are to be considered with care.
• All the applications/ requests of the students shall be recommended and signed by the group tutor before submitting for considerations from the Principal/office.
• A tutor/mentor should keep a healthy and intimate relation with every student, and should be aware of the psychological, emotional, moral and physical discomforts and give guidance
• The tutor should, with the help of the coordinator, see that the system is properly and timely linked to other activities in the college and direct the students to various centers clubs and committees such as counseling center, grievance redress cell, quiz club, science club, career guidance cell etc.
• The tutor/ mentor should attend all the problems faced by the students.
• The tutor should arrange PTA meetings to interact with parents.
• The tutor should give special attention to the economically and socially backward students.
• In addition to all the above mentioned guidelines, the Heads of the Departments and department council have the freedom to function according to the unique requirement of the students of a particular stream.

Website Committee

     Website is the face and voice of an institution at the digital era. Third generation of the website of Maharajas College start functioning from 17th December 2019, which was inaugurated by governing council chairman Prof. C Raveendran. The new website start functioning under same domain www.maharajas.ac.in, which was developed by NIC (Kakkanad) under mhsuite development project. The site has secured as security audit certificate and it is hosted in a Kerala government server placed at state data center, Thiruvanthapuram. Within one year the site received 5,17,000 visit hit, that shows the popularity of the website.

    All the major activities and functions of the college are updating in the website. The necessary forms are made available to students, so that they need not approach the office to aces those forms. This make the students more convenient at the time of pandemic. All the useful information about the college were available to public through the website. The academic and admission activities intimated though the website without any fail. As a new initiative, we trying to upload previous year question papers and study materials to students though the website and it will be functioning within this academic year.

   In addition to the website the team also handles a dedicated mail system to the staffs and research scholars under maharajas.ac.in domain. This made possible through the g-suite account provided by google. All the online classes in the intuitions are conducting and recording with the google meet operated from this account.

    A dedicated team of teachers join their hands to update the website. WHY MAHARAJA’S DAYCARE CENTRE?

A Child Care Centre (CCC) in a college campus is becoming a crucial part in the assessment of the quality of the institution. Every institution prospers mainly on account of the quality of its human capital. Human capital of an educational institution comprises of its faculty, students and other non-teaching staff of the College, amongst which a majority has a double role to play-one is career related and the other is family related. Child rearing is the most important familial responsibility that people has to deal with. Working people normally have to go for arrangements for baby care/child care. Finding a good quality child care centre is always a challenge for working parents. It will become worse during the period of emergencies. Safety of the children left at day care centres is also a matter of concern of the parents. Leaving children at home is also impossible for lone living parents who are working full time. All the above mentioned aspects put immense pressure on working parents that leads to deteriorating quality of labour at work place. This is more serious when an educational institution is considered because there takes place the grooming of the generations. A CCC inside the campus eases the pressure of the working parents as their kids are there in immediate vicinity. Moreover, kids also feel comfortable with near presence of their own ones. A CCC in the campus can enhance the efficiency of the human resource of the institution. Quality rating of the institution also will be enhanced by tapping the human potential to the maximum by taking care of their familial responsibilities and concerns too.
