DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

OVERVIEW

          The Department of Chemistry, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam came into existence in the year 1935. Starting with a B.Sc course at the time of genesis, the department has grown up as an excellent teaching center for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and a research center, in the Government sector under the Mahatma Gandhi University. Presently the department offers four post graduate courses namely M.Sc Chemistry, M.Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry, M.Sc Applied Chemistry and M.Sc Analytical Chemistry. A three-year under graduate course in Environment & Water Management was started in 1993 as a vocational course besides the existing conventional degree course in Chemistry. The department is also an approved consultancy center of Govt. of Kerala.
