WOMEN CELL, MAHARAJA’S COLLEGE, ERNAKULAM
Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam is well-known for the democratic and inclusive ideals followed in all the academic and extra- curricular activities of the college. Women Cell, which constitutes the whole women fraternity including teaching and non –teaching staff and students, has played an integral role in implementing gender equity and inclusivity in the campus. The Cell conducts periodic meetings and function effectively with a clear cut action plan and road map aiming at a holistic development of a healthy society. As the college which accommodates the most number of transgender students in Kerala, we are very particular to protect the dignity of these students. Women Cell has taken special interest in their welfare and was at the helm to celebrate Pride Maharaja’s, an eventful day for them exclusively. Under the auspices of the Women Cell of the college, the transgender students led the gender awareness classes in all the departments. Women Cell has also conducted several gender justice invited lectures, Women empowerment programmes, Self defence training programmes for girls and gender sensitization competitions. Women’s Day Celebration becomes an occasion to honour all the women achievers of the campus like writers, artists and award winners. |
